Two Full-time Positions

Marshall Area EMS

The Marshall Area EMS Commission is seeking candidates for two career Firefighter/AEMT positions. These are newly created positions which will serve both Marshall Area EMS and Marshall Fire Department. These are full-time positions working rotating 12 hour shifts, both having primary responsibility of staffing the districts on-duty ambulance. These newly created positions will be serving both departments while on duty in the station and during response for Fire and EMS related calls for service. The District; made up of three townships and the Village of Marshall covering 72 square miles across northeastern Dane County in south central Wisconsin. Our district has a permanent base of approximately 8000 residents. 2016 activity included just over 650 dispatched incidents with over 80% being EMS related.

The Marshall Area EMS is currently a paid on call department with a career EMS Director overseeing operations and administrative responsibilities. EMS is currently licensed with the state of Wisconsin at an Advanced-EMT level. Marshall Fire Department is a volunteer department with 40 volunteer members. Both departments are based out of a single station with 7 apparatus, 2 ambulances, ATV, and command vehicle located in the village of Marshall.

The positions are hourly, with an approximate annual salary of $39,100. In addition, the position is eligible for overtime, and includes a competitive range of benefits including health, life, income continuation, State of Wisconsin retirement (protected), Vacation, sick, and paid holidays. Job Summary:
The purpose of the EMT is to provide high quality basic life support to all individuals living or merely traveling through the service area. The EMT shall provide emergency medical service to include: assessment, medical care to their level of licensed skill, and transport of the patient to appropriate medical treatment facilities. The EMT shall give care to sick, disabled, and/or injured individuals from assessment of signs, symptoms, and/or complaints before determining hospital location and /or patient's request. Responsibilities:
Respond to emergency 911 dispatch calls in a calm, professional, and expeditious manner.

Respond to directions from dispatch while driving an ambulance to the specified location at a safe and controlled speed (within conformity to state and local laws and regulations).
Assess the nature, dispatched information, and scene size up to aid in determining injury and/or illness to prioritize medical course of action.

Contact and communicate with appropriate hospital staff to determine any further medical treatment beyond the Service Medical Directors protocols for care.

Complete all documentation for hospital and state.
Participate in Ambulance training as well as any other training required to maintain EMT's skills, certifications and license.
Exhibit strong moral and professional character while on call.

Amery Area EMS has openings for full-time paramedics. Set in beautiful western Wisconsin about 45 minutes east of the twin cities, Amery is the City of Lakes! The base wage rate for this position are competitive locally and based on qualification and experience. The positions are 0.6 to 0.8 and offer a benefits package of insurance with HSA account, group eye, group dental, life, retirement, PTO, continuing education, uniform allowance, and more.

Applicants must be 19 years of age, a minimum of one-year of experience as a paramedic is preferred, be a nationally-registered Paramedic, and have licensure as a Paramedic with the State of Wisconsin or able to obtain. Paramedics may be assigned to work twelve to twenty-four hour shifts rotating days, nights and weekends. Provide care to sick and injured, assigned station duties, and public relation functions as assigned on your shift. Maybe assigned duties assisting with continuing education and orientation programs. Paramedic must not have an arrest or conviction record and must have a clear criminal and caregiver background check under Wisconsin Act 27. Paramedic must understand and agree to the national EMT Code of Ethics, and is required to carry an ambulance pager or can receive phone calls while off duty.
