Nominated by their respective ambulance service directors, twenty one EMS professionals were presented Stars of Life honors on September 21, 2011 and received award citations signed by Governor Scott Walker, and gold medallions from the Professional Ambulance Association of Wisconsin (PAAW) and American Ambulance Association (AAA) organizations.
The Stars program and dinner banquet was held at the Tundra Lodge and Conference Center in Green Bay as part of the Paramedic Systems of Wisconsin Conference.
In addition, Stars recipients attended a daylong outing in Madison at the State Capitol on October 18, 2011 for "Stars Day at the Capitol", where a resolution was read and voted in their presence, in both the Senate and Assembly, on commending the Stars for their achievement and honors. A standing ovation was offered by elected leaders in both house chambers. Stars also met with their local Senators and Representatives for individual meetings and photos. To see our photo page dedicated to the capitol event, click the respective under score for our facebook photo page or PAAW website photo page.
According to PAAW President Patrick Ryan, "Stars stood up for EMS today at the State Capitol. It was nice to see their contributions and this award noted, honored and recognized."
